ABS - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
Main features
Good tenacity and resistance to collision:
ABS is a thermoplastic with good tenacity to extern impacts, it has a high rigidity and toughness, facts that make it suitable for uses like automotive components, tool housings, parts transport trays, construction or sports equipment parts. ABS products can be used in low temperature environments, being tough up to -40ºC.
Reusable and recyclable:
Our ABSs are reusables as long as they have been properly stored in dry environment, in a non-puddled paved area, with a room temperature below 60ºC and protected from UV radiation. If the product is stored in humid environments for long time periods, prior to thermoforming, it is recommended to analyze the sheet and consult our technical team indicating the conditions in which it has been stored.
All our ABSs are recyclable, offering to our clients the possibility of removing their industrial waste generated in their production in order to manufacture recycled sheet.
Stability at high temperatures and resistance to UV rays:
Our technical degrees of ABS have the UV rays resistance Certification, as well as the Certification of flame resistance under UL94 standard in its flammability classification systems (UL 94 5VA, 5VB, V-0, V-1, V-2, HB) and Certification of Regulation ECE 118.02 for transport use and specific certifications UNE-EN.
Customized products:
At Parnoplast we provide ABS’ sheet in any color (starting from RAL/Pantone or physical sample) or transparent, with the required certifications and in thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 5.8 mm. Sheets are manufactured in different formats (rolls or plate) and finishes (engraved or smooth and gloss or matte), with the possibility of adding a signaling band in the tone requested by the client.
ABS is a thermoplastic formed by three different monomers: acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. Acrylonitrile provides rigidity, toughness, resistance to chemical attacks and resistance to high temperatures. Butadiene provides tenacity, this being one of the most important features in ABS, allowing it for using it in low temperature environments (it still being tough at -40ºC). This monomer also provides resistance to impact and to fusion. Styrene provides a shiny finish, as well as toughness and rigidity, making easier the process with the final product. It has a good dimensional stability, high resistance to abrasion and it can be easily covered with a metallic layer.
Our generic degrees of ABS can become discolored due to a long sun exposure, being able to cause that the sheet becomes more brittle. At Parnoplast we can improve UV rays’ resistance providing the sheet in black since the particle in this color tone has greater protection against fading compared to another range of tones.
Our ABS’ sheets are very used in certain applications as heavy equipment or electronic devices due to its features. Its widely used in automotive, toy sector, electronics, present in the manufacture of musical instruments, as raw material in 3D printing and in chemical engineering.
This material is odorless and non-toxic. It is safe to reuse, and it is recyclable too.
All our materials are certified for each of the qualities and characteristics requested and they comply the required standards, as well as the measure controls required in each case. Our extrusion plastic’s sheets 100% recycled came from postindustrial recycling procedure that we adapt to specific applications (seedbeds, non-returnable trays, decoration elements, hydrographic pipes, internal supports…).
